Amber Claussen is a Doctoral student in the University of Houston – Clear Lake (UHCL) Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) program. Amber completed her Bachelor of Science (psychology) and Psychology master’s degree at UHCL and is currently in her second clinical practicum under supervision of Dr. Gina Dunckel. Amber’s clinical experience includes well over 200+ hours of direct patient intervention, care, and assessment within a varied population of clients and clinical needs. Amber’s primary focus for treatment and areas of research interest include trauma, PTSD, resilience development, grief, anxiety, and depression.
In addition to formal academic and clinical training, Amber completed a year internship at a community mental health agency where she participated in and was responsible for providing mental health education to first responder agencies. Additionally, she has also received specialized trainings in EMDR, acute trauma and peer and crisis support, and suicide prevention and intervention.
